Share books with families at your child's school
Lend the books your children have finished. Borrow the ones they want next. Books travel in a schoolbag, and only families your school has approved can take part.
Your school office gives you a join code. No school code yet? Tell your school about TaleWagon.
- Only your schoolYou see books from families at your child's school, and nowhere else.
- School-approved familiesThe school office confirms every child before anyone can borrow.
- No contact details sharedOther families see a display name. Never a phone number or address.
- Books stay yoursLending is a loan with a due date. Your books always come home.
How TaleWagon works
Four steps from a full bookshelf to a borrowed book in your child's schoolbag.
- 1
Join your school
Sign up, add your children and enter the join code from your school office. The school confirms each child's class.
- 2
Add your books
Scan the barcode on the back of each book. Choose which ones other families at the school can borrow.
- 3
Ask to borrow
Find a book your child wants and ask the family who has it. They have 48 hours to say yes.
- 4
Hand it over at school
The book goes through the classroom or a school exchange spot. Your child keeps it for 14 days.
Put twenty books on your shelf in a few minutes
Scan a barcode, check it's the right book, and the camera is ready for the next one. TaleWagon fills in the title, author and reading age for you.
- Nothing is shared until you choose to share it
- Mark a book as the family's, or as one child's
- No barcode? Type the ISBN or search by title
The book travels in a schoolbag
No meeting strangers, no couriers. When a family says yes, you pick one of the two ways your school allows, and you both get a Wagon Code.
- Through the classroom. A child hands the book in at the borrower's class.
- At the exchange spot. Swap at the place and time your school sets, such as the library at pickup.
- A code for every loan. Two friendly words, like Zoomy Rocket, so the right book reaches the right child.
Always know what's due, and when
Every book at home has a 14-day bar, so you can see at a glance what needs to go back. TaleWagon reminds you before a book is due.
- Need longer? Ask the owner once for 7 more days
- Done early? Tap "I'm done reading" and send it back
- Lost or damaged? Tell the owner in the app
Built for children's privacy from the start
TaleWagon is for lending books, nothing else. Parents stay in charge, and the school decides who belongs.
Parents hold the account
Children don't sign up or log in. You borrow and lend on their behalf, and you choose which books to share.
The school says who's in
Families join with the school's code, and the school office checks every child before access is given. Leave the school and access ends.
Display names only
Other families see a name you choose, such as "Priya R." and "Aarav". Full names, emails and phone numbers stay private.
A bigger library for your school, with no extra work
Families do the lending. Your office approves who joins and sets the rules for handing books over. Staff don't manage the exchanges.
- Share one join code with parents, and change it any time
- Approve each child and confirm their class
- Choose classroom delivery, an exchange spot, or both
- Families only ever see books from your school
Questions parents ask
Who can see the books I share?
Only families with a child approved at the same school. Your shelf stays private until you choose which books to share, and you can stop sharing a book at any time.
How long can my child keep a book?
14 days from the day you confirm it arrived. You can ask the owner once for 7 more days, unless another family is waiting for it.
How does the book get to us?
Through your child's classroom, or at the exchange spot your school has set up. You'll see which one and get a Wagon Code once the owner says yes.
What if a book is lost or damaged?
Report it in the app so the owner knows straight away. TaleWagon doesn't handle payments, so families agree on what to do between themselves.
Do my children need their own accounts?
No. Parents hold the account and act for their children. Children never sign in.
Can I buy a book we loved?
Many books have a "Buy on Amazon" link. TaleWagon doesn't sell books or see what you buy.
Our school isn't on TaleWagon. What can I do?
Ask your school office to get in touch. A school needs to set up its classes and handoff rules before families can join.
